This page explains how your domain and your hosting plan work over time: what is included, who owns what, how renewals are charged, and what happens if you leave. It is written to be read, not decoded. If anything is unclear, email us and a person will answer.
What’s included
Every SiteVirtue hosting plan includes one domain registration. It is free for your first year, and it stays free for as long as your hosting plan is active. You will never pay us a domain renewal fee while you host with us.
Already own a domain? Point it at us or transfer it in. We help either way.
Who registers the domain, and who owns it
We register your domain through Cloudflare Registrar, in SiteVirtue’s own Cloudflare account. WHOIS privacy is on, so your personal details are not published. Auto-renew is on at Cloudflare, so the domain cannot quietly expire.
Under Cloudflare’s terms, SiteVirtue is listed as the holder of record. That is a paperwork detail. The domain belongs to you.
If you want to take your domain elsewhere, just ask. We release it at any time, at no charge. We unlock it and send you the transfer authorization code within one business day. The only limit is an ICANN rule, not ours: a newly registered domain cannot be transferred during its first 60 days.
If your hosting ends
If your hosting plan ends, we do not drop your domain. We keep it registered until its current expiry date. At least 30 days before that date, we email you with a choice: reactivate your hosting, or move the domain to a registrar of your own.
We never turn auto-renew off automatically, and we never let a domain expire automatically. Nothing happens to your domain without a person on our team looking at it first, and without you having been emailed. Our software only flags a domain for review. It does not make the decision.
Refunds
Domain registration fees are non-refundable. The registry charges us the moment the domain is registered, and that charge cannot be undone.
Hosting is different. Every plan comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If SiteVirtue is not right for you, tell us within 30 days of signing up and we will refund your hosting. The domain stays yours either way.
How plan renewals work
Hosting plans run in 12-month terms. At the end of each term, your plan renews automatically at the renewal price you saw when you bought it. There is no teaser price that jumps later.
Here is the timeline:
- 14 days before your term ends, we email you a reminder. It shows the amount, the date, and the payment method we will use.
- 3 days before your term ends, we charge your saved payment method (your card or PayPal). Charging a little early means your new term continues from the old one, so you never lose a day.
- If the charge fails, we email you right away. We try again 3 days later, and once more 7 days after the first attempt. We email you each time.
- If we still cannot collect payment 7 days after your term ends, the plan ends. Your site does not vanish that day: we reach out before anything is removed, and you can start a new plan from our pricing page whenever you like.
Changing your mind
You are in control from My Account, at any time:
- Turn auto-renew off. Your plan runs to the end of the term you have paid for, then stops. Nothing more is charged.
- Cancel at the end of your term. Same result: you keep full access until the last day you paid for.
- Change or remove your saved payment method. If auto-renew is on but there is nothing on file when the charge date comes, we warn you first, and if nothing is added the plan ends at the end of the term.
- Change your mind again. If you turn auto-renew back on before your term ends, nothing is lost.
Your access always continues to the end of the paid term. We do not cut it short, and we do not charge you for changing a setting.
Prices
Your renewal price is the regular price listed on the plan, the one shown to you at purchase. It does not go up quietly. If we ever change a renewal price, we give you at least 30 days’ notice before it applies to you.
